Hey guys thanks to all who gave greatadvice on carb ajustment got that problem solved. Now need help ajusting brakes tractor is 1948 Farmall H i put new brake bands on cleaned drums i ajusted like shop manual said got good stopping power prblem is seams like the pedal goes down to far the shop manual said at the bottom of dust cover turn bolt all the way in then turn out 1/2 turn then ajust brakes Then it said something about 1 3/8 pedal travel but if i do that the brake bands would really rub the drum to tight Iam prob about 2 1/2 inches or so on pedal travel am i doing something wrong Thanks for any help Happy New Year

I am sure your problem is that the contour of the band does not fit the drum properly. I got so irritated at a new set of bands I bought that I gave them back to my supplier. Never heard a word from them. If you can get good brakes with a little extra free travel though you are ok. I could not, even with full travel they dragged like heck. Actually, I found some really nice used bands at the salvage yard and used them.

I would be happy with 3.5Inches. After they wear in for 6 months or so adjustment mightbe able to reduce that to 2 inches with no drag. Jim
