15/30's and 22/36's axles

I have a 1925 15/30 that looks to be a good runner. Good compression when turned and no obvious faults.

It was converted to rubber and all tires are rotten and 3 are flat. I do not want to waste money on rubber as I want steel on it when finished. I have a number of 28 and newer tractors with steel. They all seem to have splines and not the key.

What year was the change made?
Has anyone changed the axles over to the splines shafts and roller bearing?

I am finding it very hard to find earlier than 1928 tractors. Does anyone else run into this problem?

Is the front axle a straight across swap?

thanks
George

I mated up a 27 and a 29 I think it was one time years ago. You don't want to do it. There are a lot of changes and nothing fits.

not only will you have to sawp axels, but the quills (axle housings) are different from flat bearing to taper bearing, and IIRC the bull gear carrier is different. long story short, if you have keyway axles dont try and swap in splined axles. steel wheels are out there, just need to look
