IDK where I got this from, but is this the "real deal" or not???

What was it used for?

It's definitely real (I shot that photo!). The tractor is used by a local turf farm to flatten turf before "harvesting".

Here is another view:

It's not the only one either. I spotted this aging beauty resting in a sheep pasture last spring.

It is real at least I have seen pictures of it (or another) from the side. I believe it was for rolling fields. Not highway compaction. Interesting. Jim

Here's another one. It is currently used to flatten lawns in the spring. I suppose it also decimates the mole and vole population. May they rest in peace.

I am curious how the "front rollers" are "trapped" on the front tires???? I dont see how the are "captured" on the tires????

(quoted from post at 17:27:37 12/26/11) It would work great as a silage packing tractor.

Not enough traction to get up the pile. It also might float a little too much?

Anyway, that thing is awesome! I want one for a lawn roller!!!

there is a picture of 1 in Leffingwells Farmall 8 Decades of Innovation book, loks more like Wardners pic. They did make them . The one in that pic is a local adaptation.

They rolled pasture and hayfields around here years ago. It used to be not to hard to find a H or M outfitted like that but have not seen any in a good dozen years or so. A lot of stuff like that has quietly made its way to the scrap yard unfortunately.

Not only are the pictures for real, these rollers work pretty well for rolling meadows. The tractors are not heavy enough to roll real hard ground. You let some air out of the tires and push the rollers on and then air up the tires again to hold them in place.

A friend of mine has an H that was used in a golf cours that has the rollers like that .A hard riding and hard stering s.o.b.!!!! They are for real.

It would be worthless as a silage packing tractor. What little weight it has is spread out over far too much area to do any serious packing.

I would guess it came off a sod farm.Local guy used a DB 950 with similar wheels to roll the fields in spring and again before lifting the sod.

That's for rolling a freshly-seeded hay field.

Too light for packing silage. They use big 4x4 tractors with duals.
Too light for commercial sod. They use heavy road rollers.

I had a similar arrangement for a Wheel Horse garden tractor a while ago. Never used it but looked like it would've been pretty cool to drive around on.
