i have a 354 internation diesel that needs the clutch ajusted.ever since i have had it the hi range does not pull good and has gotten worse.and also the pto will not turn on with the tractor running.anybody have any pictures or page of a manual or talk me thru how to ajdust it i would really appreciate it.also how much gear oil does it hold.

Hi Steven, re adjusting clutch, I am travelling and going by memory:
IIRC: Before starting adjustments chock wheels and engage hand brake.
1) From foot rest to bottom of clutch foot pedal should be 7 inches. Adjusted by clutch pedal limit screw that contacts the clutch pedal about 1/2 between clutch foot pedal and clutch shaft.
2) Clutch pedal free travel of about 3/4 inch. Measure at bottom of clutch pedal foot rest to foot rest. Method stand ruler on end on foot rest so it is vertical against clutch foot pedal, depress clutch foot pedal with your hand until you feel it contact the clutch release bearing. This distance should be 3/4 inch. To adjust the clutch pedal has 2 bolts clamping it to the clutch shaft, the clutch shaft has a squared off end, so loosen clutch pedal clamp bolts and put wrench on end of clutch shaft and rotate clutch shaft until correct adjustment is achieved.

Re PTO not engaging with engine running, After you adjust clutch to specs above, if you have a load on PTO and depress clutch all the way to foot rest does PTO stop? If it doesn't stop most likely the PTO clutch is stuck to the pressure plate.
If it stops but still can't engage without stopping engine and clutch is adjusted properly then possibly the pressure plate fingers are out of adjustment.

DO NOT force the PTO engagement lever to put PTO in gear or you will shear ping off on PTO engagement shaft.

i have adjusted the pedal. the guy i bought it from bout 10yrs ago said he put a new clutch in it and it has not worked right since. i dont use pto very often so that hasent bothered me but i think the clutch is slipping more,so i dont think they adjusted everything right when they put it in.is there any king of ajustment inside the clutch inspection plate?i think inside is my problem.
