Failure to Proceed -- call for a Farmall

I am blessed to own two fine vehicles-- one is a 1967 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 2 dr. coupe, the other is a 1941 Farmall H. Guess which one runs best! The car requires significant work and was bought for less than most old tractors.
Hey, it makes for great yard art while I learn how to get it going! Like many tractors, it sat for maybe twenty years, started occasionally. I guess when you have learned how to mechanic on a Farmall, you can work on anything--- right?!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Best Wishes-- from the northwest corner of Oregon

ahh yes, lucas electrical. Lucas made most of the refidgerators in the UK, and thats why they like to drink warm beer! lol

That's a fine looking Rolls. I hope you have better luck getting it going that I did with my 83 Eldorado
I ended up buying a 85 DeVille that had a good motor in it and gave it up as a bad case. I like that Farmall H. I don't see very many with the wide front!

I have 2 farmalls sitting in the garage while the Escalade sits outside. I'm glad I have my priorities straight.

After I owned a Triumph motorcycle with Lucas electrics for a couple of days I found out why it was called 'The prince of darkness'. Jim

I've had several Triumph/BSA and other British motorcycles over the years. I've always heard of Lucas as being the man who INVENTED darkness....

I've never had much of a problem working on Lucas, though. None of the British Bike guys I used to hang around with could figure out why I never had problems....

People are just frightened of Lucas. It really is not that bad. My Farmall M has Lucas starter, generator, regulator and headlamps. The headlamps are a really great looking piece of equipment and after fifty plus years it has only needed the following:
re-chrome all headlamp reflectors
service regulator
service generator
replace sun-damaged ammeter
fit new wires - they were getting worn
So I can't really complain.
On my 1947 Farmall M with Delco equipment I will need to do… the same!

My love of old machinery, and the beauty old English car interiors overwhelmed my logical brain. I will prevail-- thanks for your thoughts!

I like Lucas because it provided an income in the
70s, I worked on English cars for years. From
Austin Americas to Triumphs and Jags. Lucas was
often the reason they were in the shop. Possibly
after someone else tried to fix it, but it was not
working when it was first repaired. I own a AH
sprite, but it is entirely Toyota Corolla
including electrical from light prongs to sockets,
the only BL parts are the body work and
suspension. Example of unconventional: windshield
wiper motor supplied hot 12v all the time with a
grounding switch system to activate. Jim

Delco wipers and washers worked the same way for years. I don't know if they still do or not.

Man,
that reminds me of the Tornado I had ! Ugly as sin, at least the grill but I loved the little toys it had like the signal indicators on the hood and in the view of the rear view mirror. Was one of the most comfortable cars I ever owned. I know the cadilac version was more complicated and the parts much more expensive.

Those old Brit cars use a "brake oil", not a brake fluid. A pal of mind ruined all the rubber and seals in his entire brake system by using brake fluid instead of the proper "oil". He was miffed. And very poor after that.

The British did build the most beautiful cars, in my opinion. The older ones, anyway!

Have fun with that one! Looks like a keeper!
