Found a real early 39 M #503 sitting on a farm in Northern Iowa it is complete and stuck whats it worth?? Farmer said he would sell it for 1200 is it worth that?

Unless I am mistaken, that is the 3rd one made. If my memory server me correctly, IHC started their serial numbers at 500 for each series......

If that is the case, in my mind, it is worth every bit of $1200....stuck or not.

#501 is the first production M.
#502 is the second.
#503 is the third production M ever built!

For $1200, definitely worth the money!

Buy it! That $1200 could be recovered in the serial number. Like Mkirsch said it wouldn't be that great if the castings had all been changed, but it would still be a good deal to someone else. If it had the 39 steering wheel, platform, and seat even better.

Better keep quiet and buy it. Then ask what its worth. Unless its no where near original condition. Major casting changes ETC.

About 30years. Ago I was at a sale where they sold the 35th m made for $700. They said the first 50 m's had all numbers matching. After that parts were pulled from a rack and assembled.

If I remember correctly the first M tested at Nebraska in 39 was FBK 700 something and several preproduction M tractors must of been made. Gasoline tested in 39 was probably a preproduction tractor. ME 530 something I think.
To lazy to look on Xmas evening.
