Hi, I am visiting from the Case board. Wanting to rebuild a Carter Carb that's on my dad's Super C. All of the kits that I am finding on here are for Zenith. Is anyone familiar with the Carter that was on these? Do you all have any info on where I can find a rebuild kit for it? Thanks for the help. Merry Christmas!
 
They are a horrible POS. don't waste time on it , get a Zenith or M/S ,they were the popular choices . A recent post indicated there are no kits available , just a few individual non wear items.....
 
I dont have any trouble with the Carter carbs. Car Quest has them amongst others where have you looked take the carb with you so you can get the rite one.
 
I have 3 carters taht run great! The worst part of them is the pot metal or Alumin (spelling) fuel bowl. It get warped and it needs to be squared up. There are 2 jets in the bowl that need to come out so you can sand it flat. one is raised and it usually comes out pretty easy the other is set down a little but if it doesn't come out you just have to spray carb cleaner thru it to make sure its clean. Soak the bowl in White Vinegar it helps with teh jets.

I usually keep the Carter kits in stock, but I am temporarily out. Should be getting more after the first of the year.
 
This is my opinion after having worked with both Carter and Zenith. The Zenith is so far superior that I would not waste my time on a Carter. I have a rebuilt Carter on my bench that I have not been able to make work. It may be my lack of skill, but I have rebuilt a couple of Zeniths and have no problem with them. I have no experience with an MS but I read that they may be the best.
