Bit Depressed…

Hope I am not out of line here, but no matter who is at fault in the whole Marty debacle, it really is depressing to read a public and harsh fight on a forum like this. Thought I'd post some Farmall pictures and the usual things I dig out of old sheds, now I just think I'll give the forum a miss for few days till it calms down. Sorry if this offends anyone, but public fights and personal insults do no one any credit here.

Im NOT familiar with or talking about whatever thread you have in mind, just general chat follows:

I dont think youre out of line. I think all are entitled to their opinions here and while some are right, some are wrong,,,,,,,,,some are lay while others are professional educated and experienced,,,,,,,,,,some are just plain ignorant,,,,,,,,I DONT THINK THEY SHOULD BE ATTACKED PERSONALLY FOR A MERE EXPRESSION OF THEIR OPINION.

HOWEVER, it seems some people get their hackles up and want to lash out and attack, fight and argue IF SOMEONE DARES TO POST A DIFFERENT OPINION OR SUGGESTS ANYTHING DIFFERENT (heaven forbid and how dare they dispute my superior intelligence) lol you all know the types.... They reallyyyyyyyyy get mad when another person has "facts" which contradict their opinion BETTER WATCH OUT IF YOU DARE DO THAT... You can always tell when someone is loosing an argument on the merits, thats when they resort to personal attacks.

As the old saying goes, "a person is entitled to their own opinion, but NOT their own facts"

I believe in posting my heartfelt honest opinion trying to help out here, it may be right it may be wrong, and let others do the same WITH RESPECT and let the questioner make his decision. I dont have any sort of need to convince others (some seem they do) so dont fight or argue, but just help out the best I can when I can and move on.........

So Merry CHRISTmas and God Bless all here, hope you find peace and joy this holy season, so lets all respect each others opinions and get along.

I'm surprised I haven't heard much beyond "the tractor is 50 years old, it could have had things changed on it" when I say my SM has no live hydraulics and the battery under the seat, which is impossible when the "stage X SM" conversations come up over the assembly line switching parts over as the old ones ran out instead of all at once.

"The tractor is over 50" argument doesn't work, it was bought new by my grandmother and didn't leave the farm til we had to sell the place in 05.

In regards to being depressed about what someone else did. You are allowing them to control your emotional state. Don't get depressed. There are several things I have learned about people in my 40 years here on the planet. 1. Hurting people hurt other people. 2. Stupid people will always say stupid things. 3 People are illogical. Very few people can look at thw facts and formulate opinions without emotional bias. I deal with people daily and I find great solice in knowing that I am one the few people who strives to upligft others, speak out of a position of knowledge, and to think as accurately as possible. Unfortunately we are emotional creatures.

Dear Sad. I agree with John T. (in many ways
social and with heart felt positivism toward my
fellow human being). We certainly do not ""mesh""
on politics, but we do not need to "clash" in any
way to have both a good time here, or deliver a
value added component to the forum. We learn and
grow in many ways from being here. You are
certainly welcome to avoid the discussions. I
choose to pass over them like I would
inappropriate gears in the trans. (I built a lawn
tractor once from a Wisconsin single that had two
transmissions a Volvo 4 speed, and a Chevy 3
speed. Some of the gears were much the same, so
those easiest to shift into were used. But I had
13 forward, and 7 reverses to choose from, ( it
goes forward when in both reverses)
I also value highly your Southern Hemisphere input
and would miss it. Skip the gears not best suited
to your forward progress, and stay with us. Jim.

Sad Farmall I always like seeing your pictures and you won't hear a complaint from me about them.
I get a little depressed about the short daylight hours this time of the year. Think summer just started at your location so that would brighten things up for me.
Good holidays and new year to you and everyone else. Dave

I find the arguments entertaining and that becuase they break up most of what's the norm around here. It's all fun and games and people expressing their opinions to me. Fists aren't being thrown and the internet is easy to express them since its not a face to face conversation. No harm done here. Merry Christmas Everyone.

This has been repeated many times, here is one more -- Hydraulics were always an option, although in my opinion, very few were sold without them. There is a serial number break between Stage 1 and Stage 2, which are inhouse IH terms never advertised, but picked up by the general public. If your tractor had a serial of over a certain number and up (too lazy to get the number out of my SM parts book in the shop), it is "supposed" to have live hydraulics combined with the battery under the seat. That is not to say it did. If yours had the higher serial and a belly pump, perhaps the dealer ordered that way, since they continued making the parts, or perhaps if it was close to the serial break maybe IH used a belly pump, others have mentioned a belly pump on a supposed Stage 2.

My best friend, that passed away 3 years ago Father's Day, and I were 180 out on politics and maybe a few other things. We just agreed to disagree and did not let that interfere with our friendship. There were enough things we could do together that the things we disagreed on were minor in comparison to the rest of our lives. Life is too short, as evidenced by my buddy's passing, to let the "little things" bother.
In the "big picture", remember this is the Christmas season and why we have it.
Merry Christmas everyone!

This is IH inhouse information on the chassis changes to install the live hydraulics. Notice they changed the inside housing liftall attacments to include the seal and bearing retainer and drive lug when it was installed on tractors after the chassis changes. If your tractor has the chassis changes listed its considered a stage 2 no matter what type hydraulics it has. Also IH sold under seat battery box and seat attachments for previous tractors that could be installed. Also another thing that could lead to confusion is on the last page posted you see the stage 2 clutch housing was to be a replacement part for previous tractors after old stock was sold.
Don't know what you have but this is the facts for gas tractors and effective serial #. May post info on battery box packages and diesel some other time. One last time after chassis changes its possible to have no live hydraulic tractor, but other changes to the chassis was made reguardless
