lambert disk brakes

I bought an H for parts and the brakes are different on it. I think its the lambert brakes but im not sure. If they are were they good? I have a nice 50 H would it be worth while to add them? Thanks Paul

They are Osco-Lambert brakes. They work no better
than the IH disks that came on the very late Hs and
SH tractors (and all other Letter 3XX 4XX etc
tractors. High maintenance and not at all the best.
Band brakes are much better, (well enough alone is
best) Jim
 
I have those brakes on my 51 md they are worn out and you
cant find replacement discs or parts. I just put a m&w clutch
on mine and will probably convert the other side back to band
brakes. They look good and are something to start a
conversation but that's it.
 
I recently "repaired" the Lambert brakes on my M. The discs were still thick but glazed over. The local brake shop sand blasted them for $30 and they work great.
 
It's AUSCO, not OSCO. Auto Specialties Manufacturing Company. Still in business.
 
AUSCO-Lambert is still in business in Michigan. They dropped the Lambert part of the name.

Think they were calling them self Auto specialty when IH started putting the brakes on o series tractors.
 
I would put them on as a conversation starter if I could get them to work. Every other boring H has band brakes on it.
