1466 hyd. pump issue

Having some issues with the 1466. Hydraulic pump has apparently died. Question is which pump and can a novice mechanic fix it. Tractor has no steering and will not move. Red oil light stays on. It has plenty of hyd oil. Dad has overfilled the hyd system for years because the pump was weak and this seemed to fix the problem, or at least delay the problem. Didn't want to invest too much in the tractor, because it has numerous issues, but still use it for various jobs on the farm. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yer dealin' with the front pump system on this issue.

You probably need to get into the MCV valve and pump.That pump runs steering,TA,clutch,brakes.
