Input shaft leak on Regular

I have been cleaning up a 1931 Regular. I repacked belt pully, rear PTO, pto lever
and tranny input shaft. All packing are holding I topped off tranny gear oil. I am getting a little drip coming from splin in shaft to universal. I have the same leak on my F-20.
The regular had a rubber washer under the metal washer and bolt at input shaft. Anyone have a rubber wash there? Anyone have leaking problem from shaft splin? What did you do? oldiron29

I stopped mine by cleaning the yoke and shaft splines and then using silicone sealer and a thin gasket material washer under the metal washer.Been in there several years now,no drip.

Probably. My 36 f20 leaks a little where the case bolts up underneath. I wedged it with some oakum cuz I was too lazy to take it apart and make a new gasket.

I think Cowman said it best a few weeks back, but these old girls like to mark their territory........based upon the ones I have worked on and from what I have read, I think the felt washers weren't so much to keep the oil in as they were to keep the dirt out..............
