Farmall H brake bands

This weekend I took off the brake covers, one band was worn down to the rivets, the second wasn't far behind. I took off the brake drums and cleaned them all up with a wire wheel.

I looked in my local restoration parts catalog, the one where I purchased all the ignition parts that lasted about a week and ended up being made in China. The catalog had new brake bands for $56 each, I originally guessed they were made in China.
I decided to call my local CASE-IH dealer, figured I'd probably pay around $75 for some CASE-IH brakes. CASE-IH quoted $44 each but they did't know where they are made. When I questioned the price, she said she cannot determine where they are made but she has another set of aftermarket brakes for $134 each that she has in stock and she knows are American made.
I called the catalog comany and they confirmed the $56 brakes are American made, guess I'll go with them!

How much snow do they have up that way? How long to Escanaba from your house? It looks like quit a drive. I think I could make it from Janesville, WI faster than you could make it.

Actually I grew up in the U.P, but now I"m in the lower penninsula about 45 minutes north of Detroit. My home away from home is about 15 minutes from Escanaba, spend more than half my weekends between August and December at the cabin. My Farmall goes back and forth with me occationally.

Last I checked there was barely a dusting of snow on the ground. It takes me about 6.5 hours to get up there, probably over an hour longer than it would take you. I get out of work at 5pm, get on the road by 6pm, and I"m up there just after midnight. Long drive but today"s Silverado"s are comfortalbe with xm radio and cell phone and my son chatters constantly. You can"t keep a country boy out of the woods, not when there are deer and grouse. Oh, I have a picture taken in Escanaba yesterday morning that demonstrates how little snow is on the ground, I"ll attach it....

Having worked up there, this picture is a classic! Wouldn't believe such a thing happened if I hadn't seen stuff like this with my own eyes...

No snow in the forecast up in this area yet either. Live about an hour from Escanaba and weather man says a brown Christmas for all.
