Mccormick-Deering I-12

I have a highly modified I-12 serial# IS2346 that I would like to put back original. It has a kit to raise the hood, a blocked up front axle, a snow plow, and 36" rear tires. I believe it originally had hard rubber "airport special" tires. Wondered if anyone had a set of those, or at least some pics so I could get some idea what to put on there.

Bill, some interesting changes! Is this I-12 new to you? Have you begone work on it yet? I would like to see more picture as you get into it.

Bill, It looks as you have the rear wheels still on your tractor just the rubber is missing. It looks as they are the solid hub and wheel combo that has your brake drum included somebody has just added or adapted the air tires around them. That is the center that your hard rubber was bonded on at one time.I would like to know if you find out where to get new rubber put on as I have a early 10-20 indusrtial with hard rubber that needs new rubber installed to. The archives could have pictures or the 150 years of IH book has some black and white pictures to give you an idea. Looks like you have most of the crucial parts already still there so it will be a fun project to put back correct.I will look at my parts book and see if it has any dimensions on the rubber that is supposed to be there.

Though it has beauty issues, I like what I see in the pics. Making it tidy and refreshed as is (with new hard rubber on the back) would work for me. Sometimes unique units are more interesting than "restored" same old same old. Jim

When I went to the Mt Pleasant steam school several years ago there was a man there that had a set of wheels in his pickup that he had just picked up that he had new rubber put on. Some place in KS I think. So there are places that can do that work. I'd check over at the smokstak.

Thanks guys for the responses!
This is a tractor I've picked up recently, my second I-12 though. I haven't done much with it yet. It just needs a little cleaning up and TLC to get it going again. It's kind of unique in that it has electric start a front bumper and a pintle hitch, which are options in the parts book. It's missing the air cleaner, unfortunately. I kind of have a thing for these little ones, I also made a mock-up of a Shop Mule, but that's another story.

@ Duane: Wasn't sure if the rubber was bonded to the hub or bolted on like a tire. The parts book just shows a pic of the hub itself. Any idea who does bonding like that and how cost prohibitive it would be? I was considering using that truck tire retread.
