Anybody have an estimate on how many hours it would take to split a 3588 to remove the center section, rebuild the speed transmission, and reassemble? (no TA, Factory Delete) Thanks- Doug

From the IH Flat Rate manual:

SPEED TRANSMISSION - Overhaul: Operation 9-25G - 27.9 hours

I have no idea if you plan on doing this job for yourself or wondering what to charge a customer or trying to figure what would be a fair time for someone else to charge you. BUT, here is what I tell people some times, I will do it for flat rate at normal dollars per hour shops in area are charging, like $80 per hour or charge you the actual hours it takes me at my rate $20 with plenty of time for long coffee breaks that I don't charge you for.

Thanks guys- I'm still toying with the idea of tackeling the project and fixing ours before we sell it, or sell as is (part it/ scrap it) and I was just wondering how much of the repair is parts and how much is labor. I'm guessing around $2000 - $2500 for labor from your responses. I can't loose money on the deal, but I wouldn't mind sticking time into it. Thanks agiain guys. Doug

The flat rate time I listed does not include time for cleaning or repairing any else that you may find wrong with it. Working with rusted and broken parts, removing rusted and broken bolts can add a lot of time to the job. Never having done one before your actual time will be more in the neighborhood of 2 - 3 times as much as flat rate.
