IH Steel Wheel Sizes

Both for reference and for the fun of it, I am posting the sizes of the "standard" steel wheels for most common IHC tractor models. Some models had over a dozen options for different types and sizes of steel wheels, but these "standard" were the most common. They are the flat surface rear steel wheels with 4", 5", or 6" spade lugs except for the Fairway which had spike lugs.
W12 / W14 22 1/2 x 3 front, 42 x 8 rear; Fairway 12 24 x 8 front, 40 x 16 rear; 10-20 30 x 4 1/2 front, 42 x 12 rear; 15-30 / W30 30 x 4 1/2 front, 42 x 12 rear; W40 34 x 6 front, 50 x 12 rear; F12 / F14 22 3/8 x 4 front, 54 x 6 rear; Regular / F20 25 x 4 front, 40 x 6 rear; F30 25 x 4 front, 42 x 12 rear; FH 22 1/2 x 3 1/2 front, 51 x 6 rear; FM 22 1/2 x 4 front, 51 x 8 rear; W4 22 1/2 x 3 1/2 front, 40 x 8 rear; W6 22 1/2 x 4 front, 42 x 10 rear; W9 30 x 6 front, 48 x 12 rear; WR9 34 x 6 front, 54 x 12 rear; F300 - F460 22 1/2 x 3 1/2 front, 51 x 6 rear; F400 - F560 22 1/2 x 4 front, 51 x 9 rear; W600 / W650 30 x 6 or 34 x 6 front, 48 x 12 or 54 x 12 rear; I560 & I660 54 x 12 rear; F706 & F806 54 x 12 rear.
The Farmall 706 and Farmall 806 were the last IHC tractor model with steel wheels listed as an option. Rubber tires were the standard on all IHC tractor models starting in 1938 and 1939. However, after the war started, steel wheels again became the standard wheels on most IHC tractors untill 1946 when rubber again became the standard.

May have been, but the only thing my books show is the Fairway 12. There could hav also been a Fairway 14? but I don't show it either. The Fairway 12 was standard with the 24 x 8 front and 40 x 16 rear wheels with options for 6.00 x 9 or 6.00 x 16 rubber front and 9.00 x 24 low pressure (diamond tread) rear tires.

Old,

Apparantly there were "Fairway" versions of both the "Regular" and the "F-20". While searching manuals on the internet, I found that manuals TC-6-B and TC-6-C cover both the "Farmall" (Regular) and the "Fairway". Manuals TC-13-A and TC-18-A cover both the "F-20" and the "Fairway". I also found that manual TC-8-B which covers the F-30 Farmall also covers the "Cane Special" and the "Rice Special" versions of the F-30. I knew about the "Cane Special F-30" and have information on it, but I was not aware that there was also a "Rice Special F-30".

Harold, Can you open these manuals to read them on the internet? I have aways heard about the fairways but never got a straight answer about what made it a fairway. I do no of a F-20 with very wide steel that I think is a fairway. Was there anything in the serial # for a fairway?
I no Narrow tread was NT and wide front was W.

These were just ads to sell manuals on e-bay and other sites. You cannot open the manuals. On the Fairway 12 vs the W-12, the only differences I notice are the type tires or wheels, standard rear pto, and a foot brake is standard on the Fairway. I would guess on the Regular or F20 Fairways, that is probably the case; wide front axle, fairway type wheels or tires, (these wheels would give a Regular or F20 a much lower stance than the regular configuration), foot brakes, pto, and fenders (probably full fenders simular to the W fenders), whereas none of these items were standard on the regular Regular or F20.

regular and 20 fairways that came with steel wheels were not wide front tractors, they were trycycle. The steel wheel diameters were the same of standard wheels, 42 inch. they were WIDER that normal to get the flotation on the grass and not make ruts. going off the top of my head the rears were about 18-20 inches wide, and the fronts were about 8 to 10 wide. i think i have a picture of some of those wheels around here, ill have to look

oldF20, The F-20 I no of has front rubber and rear wide steel about 24" wide and 36" tall.
Little studs are just about worn off and V lugs have been installed. oldiron29
