Farmall A Battery Connections

I've got a 1946 Farmall A that suddenly does not start. I'm not surprised since it does not get much use other than a few weekends here and there. I removed the battery and bench charged it for several days. Problem is, when I went to put it back in, I forgot whether it is positive or negative ground. I have not been able to find my schematics, so I'm wondering if any of you folks might be able to let me know. Thanks in advance for any help! Doug

Compare the hole sizes on your battery cables. The A's had positive grounds and would have the
battery cable with the large hole to fit the positive terminal on the battery. Hal

From the factory it would have be + ground and 6 volts but you have not given us enough info for use to be able to help you help your self. If still 6 volts and has a generator then it would be + ground but if 12 volts and has an alternator then it stands a 99% chance it is - ground and if it has an alternator and you hook it up back wards you will smoke test the alternator the moment you hook it up

If it is distributor ignition check the wire to the points,if it is on + it's positive ground if on - negative ground.
