Pulling Sleeves

I had my 1944 H engine in for hot-tanking and decided to have them pull the sleeves while it was there. They charged me $15 per sleeve to pull them and I just wanted to ask if all of you think that was a good price. I, personally, was thrilled with the price - it saved me having to buy or make a puller and the headache of doing it myself.

Has anyone ever just "scored" them in a line straight up and down from top of the cylinder to the bottom of them with a die grinder to split them and let them fall out?

(Wondering?Seen it done on a Ford block with sleeves.)

i have welded a bead across from each other the length of sleeve and then just pulled them out with my fist.need to be careful doing this as not to damage block.its the fastest way.

Good enough.

Personally I would have done it myself, but if you're more in the mood to let somebody else do the work, 60 bucks isn't an unfair price for a pro shop to charge for the work.

And 50 for hot dipping the block is an absolute must - that goes without saying.
