Have a IH 3x8 depth control cylinder thats needs attention. Can't seem to find it on the IH parts site. Is there anything special inside that a hydraulic shop wouldn't have? It leaks down very quickly but not at the same rate all the time[sometimes hardly at all]. Just wondering. It's on a 720 6x16 on land hitch plough. Got to watch it on the road!.....Ron

Call Baum Hydraulics at 800 228 9222

Refer to IHC 363 137 R94

If that doesn't work tell the rep you want a kit for IHC 2-1/2" X 8". cylinder.

I bought one for around $25 last summer

I also bought the same thing from C&G for around $50. Yes, I rebuilt two separate cylinders. I found the better price by asking, like you, on this forum.

Cancel my last post. Your "Depth-Control Cylinder" title shifted my brain into the Farmall 300-400 unit. It probably is 3" x 8". I don't have the part number but Baum will still have what you need.

It has to either a 2.5" x 8" hyd IH stroke control or a 3.5, no 3" stroke control were made by IH. IH seal kit part number 363138R91 was for 3.5 IH 4 bolt tie rod with adjustable collar for control depth. The kit doesnt include the stop pin parts, just the seals for the cyl. Look in back of 560 parts catalog for break down of parts.

A depth control cylinder on a plow isn't the same as a stroke control cylinder on a tractor.

According to the CaseIH site, the kit for the 3" cylinder is 79976C2 and includes the shaft seal and all the o-rings. Messick's shows it available for about $52.

try uncoupling the hoses for the cylinder when the plow is raised. If the cylinder still drops and you cannot see any leaks, then it is the cylinder. If the cylinder stays put, you have leakage on your tractor somewhere--possibly internal to the control valves. The effective band-aid for this is a pilot operated check valve, which can be had in single or double acting check versions. The check valve could be permanently mounted to the tractor or it can be mounted to the plow, depending on your needs.
