I cant tell for sure but think it is a Farmall 460 gas with fast hitch, 2 hydraulics, power adjust rear wheels & deluxe seat. Its the brake covers that appear to be 460, 560 were larger. I set these up new at a dealer in Iowa.

Thanks for the replies. Was this a decent tractor? The hood is there but I do not have pics of it and only have pics of what you see. I took a risk on it and hope I come out ok. I am more familiar with Fords.

They were very popular tractor around here, not a great powerhouse but compared to competition a good choice. 460 was a 350 from the clutch back, was a 40 hp tractor. 6 cyl gas 221, diesel 236 cubes, if it turns out to a 560 it is 450 rear with better hydraulics 50 hp 6 cyl, 263 gas, 282 diesel, also hope it has the triangle stamped in the serial number plate on cutch housing for the upgrade that every 460/560 was supposed to get.

(quoted from post at 22:50:16 12/13/11) Looking at the size of the rear case it looks like a 460. No unusual problems that I've heard of.
Dad had one that didn't give him any problems, but then he was only farming 100 acres at the time and didn't work it all that hard. Pulled a 3x16" plow and 11 1/2' Kewanee disk and moved big round bales with the Fast Hitch (F-H drawbar welded on a 3 point bale mover). One of my nephews still had it the last I knew.

Going with Owen A. Center housing doesn't looked shaped the same as a 460 where the serial plate goes on the right side of a 460, left side 560. Don't think there's a plate there. Also the center housing looks shorter than a 460 one. My answer 560. Dave

Since I dont see the tag, maybe you could post some part numbers, surely someone will be able to easily tell from those. Looks like a 560 to me.

yes its a 560 with a 6 cyl.count the spark plugs and you have your cyl. # settled.am suprised you dont even know the diff between 4 and 6 cyl. post the serial #.

I dont know how you are taking it from the posts that I dont know how to tell a 4 cylinder from 6 but I am certain it has 6 cylinders. I do not have access to the tractor for another couple weeks and only have these pictures for now. I will post the numbers as soon as i can. I appreciate all the help everyone has given.

I also think it is a 560 the best tractor at its time for power and traction, would pull 4-16's with no problems ours was a 1963, Dad demonstrated a 730 jd not near the tractor.

well because thats what you said in the posts, you were certain or sure. i did not know that you are going by a picture, and 460 and 560 both are 6 cyl. i have noticed lots of times on here we only get parts of the info.when you go to the doctor he wants all info you can tell him.where farmall 300 gets his info from is totally off.

Yes a 60 model would have the parts in it from the factory. Check the serial # though for serial # 23926 or higher.

Farmall 560 gas. There only two tractors that look like that and the 460 has different frame rails. I have owned both at one time but they had diesel motors.
