756 front axle

completely wore through the bottom of the knee on one side of the front axle on my 756 this past fall. Pretty sure it had a loader on it for the first 1/2 of its life, and probably didn't have much/any of the thrust washers on the bottom left when I got it. Anyway...have started on fixing it. Have kind of decided that rather than trying to get the knees out of the center, might be $ ahead to just pull the entire front end out and start over. Anyone have any leads on the best place to get all the parts needed? Planning to replace everything between the hubs

Well if ya look hard ya may find a good take off for anywhere from 450 thru 1000 . This spring i took the narrow ft. off my 806 and put a Cream Puff wide on it . I was shocked to find out that the knees were not frozen as they were all the way in and we needed them set for 38 inch row , pulled the pin loosened the two bolts and was ready to do battle with the 10 ton porta power and as i was getting the first pump it slide out like it was brand new . gave 950 for it.

Also should have asked...what's the opinions out there on the aftermarket parts? A & I, Tisco, nnalert et. al? For general purposes, do they hold up well enough? The factory IH front held together for 41 1/2 years, and a portion of that carried a loader of some sort before I had it. I don't have a loader on it, but do put a Waldon dozer blade on it once in a while...to use as a brush guard as much as anything when shredding taller sprouts and trees. Most of use is in the open CRP with a 15' cutter or haying.

If it's that nice, I'd give you $1200 sight unseen for yours... ;)

About all I've seen around here for take offs are as bad or worse than what I have it seems, but yet must be packed full gold.

Well then ya can get two new knees and new thrusts and all these parts are available from A&I , ya need two A370689R21 knees two A18510C1 thrust bearing.. And if ya need the spindles then ya need tow A71785C92 spindles.

It is a s/w tractor, no rust

going to see if we can get the knees out of the center tube and go from there. it took quite a bit of sledge work to slide together

Remove the pins and bolts, etc., Fasten a come-a-long to the rear axle of the tractor, and the other end to the lower part of the spindle, and then tighten up the come-a-long. Use plenty of penetrating oil and rap on that center tube with a hammer, and eventually it should all come loose. Might take a day or two, but keep tension on that come-a-long.
