was there a ih manufactured 2 point attached counter weight for the utility tractors, like 300 350 330 that were used as loader tractors?

if so, someone get pics??.....

IH made what was called a "Carry-All" that was a Fast Hitch platform for carrying whatever would fit on it. One of these with weight added would be a good thing to have and could be used for other things like feed sacks, fencing materials, etc. Used one a lot on our Super C years ago. I believe they had one for the bigger F-H points as well.

The only counterweights I've seen are homemade, a simple 55-gallon drum filled with concrete.

Sometimes they get fancy and cast a concrete block, then strip the forms.

I sincerely doubt IH made anything like that, especially considering the weak loaders of the 1950's. They couldn't lift enough weight to require a counterweight.

Besides, in the 1950's, many farms still didn't have a dedicated loader tractor. At the very least you kept the back end of the tractor open for hooking up other implements, and completely removed the loader during planting or harvest seasons.

My 240U is from 1958 and I can tell you from the experience of pulling my neighbors old concreted in mailbox post out of the ground that it will lift the rear of the tractor off the ground. All I had on the back was a Frontier ( sorry about the JD part) blade.
When I bought the tractor, the guy I bought it from had a BIG chunk of iron beam chained to the 3 point, but it didn't go with the tractor.

thanks for the replys, a guy had one for sale loacaly with a loader. claimed it all being IH factory an wanted decent money for it, witch turned out home made weight and a shawarts loader. i had more interest in the weight, if it were true ih.
