guys the flange on front of water pump how do you get the flange loose so i can ajust the fan belt ive been spraying powerblaster for 2 wks did,nt want hammer on it to much scared i would break flange pleas help thanks

well if talking about what i think your talking about, make sure the set screw is loose and go to it with a big punch brass if possible. but make sure you hammer where your supposed to hammer. they will take a pretty good beating to get it loose when seized.i have not broke one yet.you can spray it for two years but you must get mad at it. then once you break it free work it back and forth and use the spray.ooh and what are you working on?

I learned on the one I broke that the set screw needs to be more than a little loose as it had an unthreaded portion that engaged the recess in hub. Hope this makes sense, it"s been 10 yrs ago that I learned my lesson. By the way it still is in service as I welded it back together with nickel rod (carefully)!

The generator has that same type of pulley, and the last one of those I worked on required removing the entire assembly from the generator and then heating it up with the oxy/acetylene torch.

Best to remove the screw. It makes another way to get some oil into the threads also.
