Hi crop IH 140 price

I looked at a high crop 140 and it is in decent shape. It has been out in the weather for some time.The sheet metal seems to be straight, however, the hood as some rust spots with pitted holes on the side. The owner said that the seals on the final drive axles need to be changed and it smokes a little. He is asking $4000 as is for the tractor with a set of hip rows.I believe it is a 1960ish year tractor.
Is this a fair price?

There are a lot of other things to look at like tires,seat, and does it have a PTO. But i think its a little much for what you have told us. I would say its worth about 2000 to 2500. Just because its a hi-crop.

In NC, a regular 140 in fair condition will go for $4000. I don't know about a high crop.

I know where there is a pretty decent 140 HC for sale for $2,000 with the cultivators minus the feet. It is in Fayetteville, TN. He has been trying to sell it for over a year now and would most likely take less. I'm betting it doesn't smoke either! I think its on Craigslist.

I agree Sounds like around 2000, make sure block not cracked behind carb.
