To Rusty and Mike--Thanks. Next question-the heater I have apparently is shorted out. Going to buy new--should I buy a 1000 or 1500 watt heater for the M?

If you are going to leave it plugged in use the smaller one. If you are just going to use the heater for an hour or so before you start the tractor buy the larger one.

Tank heaters get sized by size of cooling system.

An M holds 6 gallons, so that calls for a 1000 to 1500 watt heater.

You can buy heaters with thermostatic temp control or just with an overheat control. If it has the temp control, you can't go too big. It will just heat up faster.

If you always plan ahead and plug in the night before, the small heater is fine.

If you sometime need your tractor fast, it's zero degrees outside and you did NOT plug in the night before, get the bigger heater. 1500 watt.

I would get the 1500 personally. I also know some guys put them on timers if you use it every day, which I do not. I plug mine in around 2 hours before I need it, and the whole block will be warm after only that long. Thats with a 1500 watt.

Thank you. That clarifies a question I had. Found a 1500 (new) in some parts I got with a tractor I bought.

Thank you. As stated above, I found a new one that came with a tractor I bought. Will only plug it in several hours before use. It doesn't get very cold here in Montana so that should suffice.
