Why would a 1963 round nose cub lowboy come from the factory yellow and how many of these might be around. I have seen a few...

Little less than 1500 Lowboys were made in 1963.

According to one of Ken Updike's books, in August 1960, IH switched to all yellow on the Lo-Boys. When they went to the square nose the switch was made to yellow and white. My '61 Lo-Boy:
