We got the 'new' Farmall M to move!

Went to have another look at the 1947 Farmall M. Pumped up the flat rear tyre (as much as we could), started the tractor and… a deluge of rain, which reduced the drive to turning around in the shed! The off-side rear tyre needs a new inner tube, so that will give me a day of heavy labour before the tractor comes home. Each half of the rear rims weighs approximately 400 lbs. The grey truck in the background is an IH AB150.

The find of the day was in the wooden tool box on the side:
2 x spark plug wrench 841 354 R1
1 x water pump pulley wrench 11 858 DA
1 x cranked IH socket wrench 45 662 DA

I am not a Farmall fan; But I really like what I see in the picture. Good Luck with it. Imagine what some sanding, & paint would do!

What a great find! Looks like a complete, un-messed with tractor. It even still has the manifold heat shield!

Will make a great project.

Wow. Now thats what a farmall m looks like in its work clothes. Nice to see one that way from time to time! Haha! I like to see these old girls that still work for their keep. Not sayin that I don't like em all painted up, but its cool to see that they're still out there doing what they were designed to do every day. What a work horse that must be with those heavy rims. What a find!

Were those rear wheels and rims factory options or an aftermarket?

Also were the front-mount headlights factory option or a "farmer" modification.

Interesting. Any idea what those rear wheels and rims came from? Those do not look like the standard parts for a Farmall M.

They look like the same light setup as a W series tractor here in the US. There is also no light bar on the steering. Just thinking out loud...

Thanks for all the great replies. Most people around here think I am mad buying machines like this. The wrenches are still in the tractor tool box, on the tractor, which is 250 miles from here at the moment. The headlamps themselves are Lucas L-H2-0 lamps, which are correct for Farmall M, AM, Super AM, H, W4, AW-6, AW-7, AW-7 Diesel etc. delivered in Australia. The brackets which hold the lamps in place are IH, but as already noted are the type usually seen on W4, W6, AW-6 and AW-7. The rear rims are genuine IH and are correct for all Farmall M and some Farmall AM delivered in Australia. Tyre size is 13.5-32. I cannot find a new 13.5-32 inner tube, so if anyone can help I will be very grateful. The rear rims and front rims are fitted with wheel weights.
