Not a Farmall AM

Went to have a look at a Farmall AM, but it turned out to be a Farmall M. It has an AM engine cover, but everything else points to it being an imported Farmall M. Apparently it runs, but the crank handle pin is broken. The owner told us that the clutch sticks, but he has never greased the clutch release bearing or the clutch pilot bearing. There is a Delco-Remy starter and U.S. instrument panel. It has a Lucas generator bracket on the motor, but no generator. The steering is very worn and the rear axle seals and brake drum seals leak. The radiator header tank leaks. I did manage to turn it over by the fan and it is free. Part of the front grille is missing as is the manifold heat shield. Sump is cast iron and ignition is H4 magneto.

Looks like a straight Farmall M.If it is an import that would be an odditie.I never knew that they imported Farmall tractors. Was it because of the war shortage of farm equipment? Looks like an easy fix .I don"t think I have ever seen an M which had that inspection panel installed in the grille. Most were never reinstalled or probably fell off due to not being reinstalled properly.Lots of grease showing around the sterring pedistal.

Import and Oddity.....Yes, except for the fact that this chap is in Australia. Great find, Lots of parts for that one here including the front cover

What year is that?
Have you looked at the serial plate?
I don't know much but that grill looks like it has a Super M emblem on it.

The IH emblem on the front is one of the tricks, which make many think they are looking at Super Ms. Early Australian delivered Farmall M tractors all seem to have the IH emblem on the front instead of the Farmall badge. Serial number is FBK 5419 X3A. So far as I can tell this makes it a 1939 tractor.
