Fast Hitch Problem

I have a fast hitch on my Super C and 350. The Super C fast hitch just settles down after sitting for a short time. The 350 fast hitch will stay up unless there is an implement connected to the tractor. What do I need to do to fix each of these tractors?

So when you park the tractor the implement will go down. Are the stops on the hy unit set correct so the linkage can be in the right position for up and down. Alos if its parked what difference does it make if the implement goes down.

There is a check valve in the system, to correct this. Follow the hoses from cylinder up, and you should a block. May find a bad o-ring or it is leaking by the ball and set.

When tractors or combines are parked it has been my assumption that all loaders, backhoe buckets, three point hitch mounted equipment, and combine headers should be grounded as part of the parking protocol. When you are in a gravel or sand pit you find that buckets and other equipment are grounded and wheels are chocked when parked. Even pickups and other company cars will have chocks on one wheel. Bottom line: be safe and set supported equipment on the ground or use transport locks when parking equipment. When transporting equipment use the transport locks but do not retract hyd. cylinders in case the transport locks fail. Armand

To remove confusion, the SC and most likely the 350 should stay up. There is an O-ring leak somewhere. We had a 200 we bought new for 30 years and I now have a 200 I am working on to restore. Both would hold an implement indefinitely in the up position on the front and the rear.

Assuming a hitch cylinder on the SC, Lift the hitch (on either) and block it with a jack or wood shoring at a normal height with pressure off of the cylinder. Remove the hydraulic lines and cap/plug them both at the cylinder, and at the hoses. Now remove the blocking or jack so the hitch is free to go down. If it does go down some, the issue is packing in the piston. If it stays up, the problem is in the valving, or check valve. Jim

For using a haybine or baler on the 350, you'd want to attach the lift arms over to the frame attachment mounts. There the hitch won't drop or raise for the summer.
