c-123 in a Farmall A

I did a search and it seems that the C123 engine will work in place of a c113, but no definitive answer. I just wanted to ask the question straight out... Will a c123 from a 240 bolt up to a Farmall A. Thanks for your help.

Yes.
Some issues may play with your enginuity with the radiator connections, but not more than typically found on a transplant. the blocks are the same, the coolant pump will make it different. Jim

Jim is spot on. depending upon how hard you are going to work it, you can get away with the thermo syphon system and eliminate the water pump. If you are going to work it hard, I would NOT suggest that. going with a C-123 and a water pump, you will need the Super A taller grille and also the gas tank mounts so that you get the clearance you need for the hood.

There are bore kits available for the C-113 engine that take it to what amounts to a C-123, and of course, you won't have the water pump.

What you have been told so far is right for a C-123 out of enything up to a 130 or 230. The engines from the 140/240 have a different style water pump. You would probably have difficulty changing it back to thermosyphon. I don't know if the water pump and fan position will add complication of not. Certainly hooking up hoses to the Super A radiator will be more of a problem than with an earlier C-123.

If you decide to change it back to the thermosyphon system, be sure to change out the head gasket. The one you need has the large holes for the water.
