Chareging system on my A

Now that I have my 42 A running I'm planning to buy the parts to make the charging system work. The tractor has a mag but it came with a starter and had the whole electrical system at one time. The generator I have to put on has a regulator which at the moment I don't know if it works. Should this tractor with a mag have a cut out on it or a regulator and if I don't care about being period correct does it matter which. Its a 6 volt system.

A voltage regulator will do a better job of keeping the battery charged than a cut out relay. Your magneto has nothing to do with the charging system and should NEVER be connected to a battery.

You can get a voltage regulator that mounts on top of the generator, or you can get one that is a "flat-mount" and can be installed anywhere on the tractor. Just follow the correct wiring diagram and use the correct gauge of wire.
