using Fast hitch implements with 3pth tractor

I cut off fast hitch couplers from a junked tractor and welded them to a three point fast hitch. Used the fast hitch "hitch" to hold them in alignment while welding. Can now hook to both types of implements without fuss.

No doubt. The only thinking is to be careful to not let the FH points interfere with the 3pt lift arms at any point in lifting or use. Keeping the FH equipment at the same pull distance is important.
If I was doing it permanently I would remove the points to assure clearance. The lift on a 3pt requires a strong upper link connection pulling hard in the forward direction, and triangulating rearward to make it strong is important. Jim

I guess my question here is... since 3 point equipment is much more readily available, why would you want to do this? Fast -hitch implements would bring a premium in a lotof areas and 3 point stuff is usually cheap... sell the F-H stuff, buy 3 point and have money in your pocket.

I saw two guys bidding a 3 bottom up to 600 bucks at a auction last week that was a fast hitch. I'd try and sell it and buy a 3 point plow and make a few bucks.

Thanks for the photo but I have three of those adapters I thought you had a three point hitch tractor you were using some fast hitch implements on.

Yes. I have a Farmall 504 D with a 3pth. And i would like to be able to use a fast hitch 3 bottom plow with it because the plows would be free. They are not mint, but seeing as i don't have a set of plows i figure there're better than nothing.

What I did was to take one of theses

that we got at an auction and extended the sides down and boxed in a set of fast hitch couplers (cut off just behind the couplers) from a junked 656. Tacked them up under the three point connectors using the fast hitch drawbar to hold them in alignment and mounted it to the 806 to check the clearances. The fast hitch couplers stick out from the 3 point connections far enough to use the latches and low enough to clear the 3 pt arms when centered. We rigged up sway chains to keep it centered. Dad could then use his 2 point blade and other implements he had from his 560 on his 806 without buying or selling anything.

Plows can be very particular to how they are hitched. Especially fully mounted plows. Converting from one hitch style to another will be nothing but headaches. sometimes there are differences with the same hitch. I have heard some guys say plows designed for the 400 fast hitch will not work right with a 706 era fast hitch...but I have no direct experience
Now if the plow is a more modern semi mount (60s on up) the main difference will be the crossbar, which the proper 3 point one will easily be found in a junkyard. A fasthitch crossbar on these newer plows might work for cat 1 if the flexible prongs are removed, but you'd have to see what modifications may be possible.

you could post pics of the plow and ask about it, we'll tell you if it is easy to convert to between hitch styles or not.

We had a fast hitch plow with an adapter for 3 pt. Believe it was IH made, but would be simple to fabricate.
