You guys know I went over to the dark side and bought a new 95 with cab, 730 loader all the stuff.
So far in 200 hours and 18 months it has had
1) $800 AC repair
2)$ 4000 clutch replacement. Tranny seal let go and flooded the clutch
3) $1100 dollar winshield
4) $1600 wiring harness lights repair
5) No repair yet but PS is making funny noises and vibrations when hot.
All of this covered under the 24 month/2000 hr original warantee. But I am really thinking can I afford to drive this thing when warantee expires.
Went shopping at IH. For 2700 and change can get FULL extended warantee to 60 mos.
For 2200 get the powertrain and some electronics and hydraulics. For 1500 PT only.
Looks like a no brainer to buy the complete deal and it does have a 250 dollar deductible.
Or do I bite another bullet and trade this puppy in June when the warantee expires?

Well, I have 2 answers.

1.) Do you think you have all the issues licked, or are the things that were repaired just flawed design? If flawed design, they will fail again. Trade it in.
2.) If you think you may have just gotten a lemon, and all the ills have been fixed, buy the extended warrenty and run it like a rented mule!

IMHO.

I would look at the Service bullitins and discuss the issues with the dealer (principle, not sales) and allow that the difficulties are seriously compromising your attitude toward IH. Ask if there is a possible grace period extending the failed parts to 60Mo just because there is already a total of 6500 in covered costs and undeclared loss of productivity downtime for repair. If not, and if the parts were replaced with the same old type that failed, I would abandon ship while the warrantee is still valid. Just me. Jim

That's part of tyhe problem. I can't run it like I stole it. I plant about 65 acres, spray about 250, hay another 60, push snow and clean up some creek bottoms. Maximum hours about 125/year.
It's just the design engineering on this is so poor that to fix broken turn signals and road flashers took $900 in parts and 700 in labor. I don't think those things will fail again but what about the 6000 Turbo or the intercooler for $4000?
Go Orange? (Kubota)?

Good points. When I discussed the light and wiring harness problem, the artisan working on the tractor told me that in 2011 they made changes to the harness so that you could replace "sections" of it. So I asked him to upgrade mine to that and he told me it wasn't possible. Go figure. So I have the old system that when the card blows you have to disassemble the entire cab. They had the floor, side panels, dash, console everything apart to fix that blown flasher.

Company should build a tractor to go at least 5000 hours with NOTHING going bad. If something goes wrong, company backs it 100%---parts & labor.
When the 450-806 era tractors were put together, they would reasonably run 2000 hours with ordinary maintenance. Yes, maybe the odd bearing would fail or some other part would fail, but basically, the unit would be dependable.
Lots of these modern tractors rely heavily on electronics--just as the automotive industry does. Where are the wiring harnesses being assembled? Where are components coming from?
Afraid you're just starting with problems showing up. Best of luck.

I can tell you from my part time job driving for an independant dealer that specialises in high end automobiles, that they all have problems, even Mercedes. Some seem to be worse than others, but a car that had that many problems would no doubt have been declaired a "lemon" and replaced. My sis and b-i-l bought a 2011 Chevy Traverse and it had a series of problems. Last I heard, the area rep said one more problem and they would take it back as a lemon (actually don't know what they expected from GM.. this also from driving a variety of auto brands). I don't know that tractors have an actual "lemon law" in place like cars, but I'd certainly hit them up about calling it a lemon and replacing it.
