Rewiring with alternator and mag

I am going to rewire my B over the long weekend with an alternator (I got a delco from the junkyard) and will be keeping the original mag. I have a two position switch also. Just about all the wiring left on this tractor has rotted apart so I will be running all new including lights. Does anyone have a good diagram for me with this scenario?

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Your mag has nothing to do with the charging system whether it has a generator or alternator.
That would be different if you had a distributor.

Easiest way is to substitute a 2-position DPDT (double pole double throw) switch for the original ignition switch.

Wire the switch so one pole grounds the magneto primary when the switch is "off". Wire the OTHER pole so it feeds 12 volts through a warning light (or diode) to the alternator #1 terminal when the switch is "on".

Post back your email and I'll send a .gif sketch of the charging system wiring.

Also in the ampbox does anyone have a diagram of what wire connects to each point on the back of the light switch? That would be great also. Thanks!

This will work. Do not connect any power to the
mag, only ground to stop. Jim
