Farmall F 20 oil pressure

I can't get oil pressure on my F 20. I have taken the oil pump out - every thing seems to be working. I blew out the lines with air and every thing is clear. Apparently the valves are not lubricated from the oil pump as there is oil caps on the valve cover to oil manually. I took the port cover off and turned the engine with the crank and the oil trough and scoop seem to be lubricating the piston bearings on the crankshaft. The only other part that should need oil is the govenor which gets oiled when adding oil. Can I run it this way?
I am new at this. Any hints?

The oil pump pumps oil to fill the troughs for the rod dippers. there is a pipe that feeds the front main bearing and the timing gears. So yes, you need the pump working but not much pressure. Just flow. What's it do when you unscrew the gauge? Does oil come flowing out? A high pressure gauge will not register.

you have to oil valves manually, should be felt wicks in trough under valve cover. If the troughs for the rod are full the pump is probably working and has a bad or wrong guage , do as Cowman suggests remove guage and crank over a few times should sqirt outsome oil.

F-20's only run at 3-5psi normally. The pump only is used to pump oil up so it can be dribbled or splashed around, and move thru the filter. Nothing is pressurized on these ole girls.

Yes, the valves are oiled manually. Couple squirts once a day. Seems to have worked well, as the three I have owned had very little play in the rockers.

Thanks - I just looked and it has a high pressure gauge - the way I bought it. I will take the gauge off and see what happens. thanks again
