Farmall M serial

I found a couple of potential serial numbers on a M that I recently bought. One is on the transmission housing and is 8002-DD. The other is on a metal tag (which I think is more likely the correct one). It is FBK 79855 X1.

Would the correct serial no. be 79855? 8002 would put it manufactured in 1940 which I think is too early.

First number is a casting number; serial number is on a tag attached to left side of bell housing just ahead of the clutch pedal.

The number on the metal tag is your serial number. The other number is either a casting code or a part number. Look to the left there is a site for serial numbers, can find what year there.

x1 means it was built to run on gas and had a higher compression ratio than the kerosene and distillate versions.
