A while back I asked some questions about the pto on a 460 and I took yalls advice and got the pto fixed. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you, and because of the advice you gave me I got to use it picking corn a few weeks ago. And hopefully this link to the video will work.
By the way, that was me driving. Thanks again

Oh I also forgot to mention that my grandfather planted the corn with his cub, and anyone around here that we tell it to doesn't believe it. He also cultivated and side dressed it with his cub. I know that he enjoyed every minute of it because you couldn't wipe the smile off of his face

(quoted from post at 03:59:37 11/17/11) Sir,Are the axels on your 460 2 3/4"?? Bud.

I am not sure, I would measure them but I am away at school right now. If you are wondering if it has the early or later rear end, I checked the serial numbers and it was supposed to be one of the first that was built with the beefed up rear end. Which I believe that it does in fact have. It has spent its whole life in the same place. My father has seen it plow with a 3-16" plow with the front wheels off of the ground. Our soil has a lot of clay in it. It also spent about 20-25 years of its life picking corn in the fall.

I know, she was just there for a little while because she wanted to see everything from the drivers perspective but wasn't familiar enough with it to drive. I explained what moved and didn't and what was safe to hold onto, like the two rods that hold up the rear spout. I made sure that her clothing couldn't get in anything, and her hair was up. I checked the fan to be sure that nothing could get into it and all of the shields were in place. It was a whole lot safer than letting her drive an unfamiliar tractor.

My first responce is horror seeing your lady RIDEING on the picker!!!does she have a 'deathwish',or are you trying to get rid of her?BE SAFE!!!!!!

Watching that sure brought back memories, but some of the other videos with JDs did even more. Spent many days running a JD 60 and 227 picker as a youth in NE Iowa.
As to someone riding on an implement or tractor, I can tell you it scares the heck out of me today to see that, but as a kid too young to drive one myself, I spent hours and hours riding in what were probably some pretty dangerous places on them.

I have a sore spot for corn pickers - a friend of mine lost both his arms and half his face in a one, and I can assure you he didn't expect it to happen. So I feel obligated to add to the "nagging", sorry.

More of a reminder than preaching - I'm just as guilty of bending the rules every now and then myself.

With that out of the way- great video. I didn't get to pick any this year, watching it in a video isn't as good as the real thing, but it does kind of bring you there for a moment. Such a nice time of year to be out there.

Thanks for sharing.
