1066 and 1466

Just wanting some opinions here. What size of a chisel plow could a dualed up 1066 in good condition pull? With the chisel plow having twisted shanks on it 3 to 4 inch. Same question on the 1466? Or is it even possible to do that with either on of these tractors? The ground I would be working is southern indiana river bottom ground with sandy ridges and clay sloughs but not any super gumbo stickey ground.

9-11 if your going to put it into the ground and run the speed that they work best at. we are pulling five DMI parabolic shank with the 7 inch tiger points in a mixture of clay sand and loam and getting down 14 inches and running first high. The old DMI block man said that we would never pull them . Once we solved the problem of spinning the rims inside the tires no problem . we had a five inch plow sole that we broke up on half the fields this spring.

I pull a 7 shank john deere 1700 disc chisel with an 806 with weights and duals. I pull it in low 3rd or low 4th depending on how hard the ground is. It has 3in straight chisel points and i put it in about 8in deep. My 806 has somewhere around 105-110hp. Handles it just fine, hope this helps.

Our 1066 will walk away with a 12 foot JD 1600 chisel with twisted shanks. Of course there are the situations where we've been pulling in corn & beans across a headland & the ground gets pretty tight. Then you shift down & lighten up a bit on the depth & make 2 passes.
I plowed up a headland this fall that had had loads pulled across it when it was wet, & was down in low 2 & the front end was off the ground half the time. This was with a 710 with 5- 18's. You just have to slow up a gear in tough spots.

Thanks for the info everyone it helps alot being able to get info from folks who have been there and done it. I was a little to young to remember how my uncle and grandpa did it and the size of their equipment. I only know tractor and combine models. But i'm thinking about working on a deal with the guys who rent our ground that i do the spring and fall tillage with the tractors my grandpa and uncle left on the farm. Their / my jd 4020 and I'm going to be lookin for a 1466 like they had or a 1066.

Thanks again for all the info.
