Farmall Super M puller, oil and plugs

Is it ok/best to use 20w 50 motor oil and Autolite 3116 plugs for a Super M which will be pulling? Does anyone recommend anything different?

Like everything else, it depends. Is the motor fresh or does it smoke and burn oil? If fresh, that is too heavy an oil to use in it, use 5w-20 instead, if worn out and needing the heavy oil to keep the consumption down to a reasonable level, then use the heavy stuff, but rebuild as soon as possible.

As for the plugs, I don't use Autolites, so I don't know about them, but I do use Champion, and in those try a D-21.
 
Well it was a rough runner. Turns out it was valves. That is fixed now and I am putting it back together. It does not smoke or need rings.
 

In that case, try Motorcraft 5w-20 blended, available at the Great Wall(mart) of China for about $15 for a 5 quart jug. While there, also pick up a quart of ATF, Dexron III or Type F, doesn't really matter which one, but it will keep the inside of your engine nice and clean, or clean out years of accumulated sludge if it is dirty now, just be sure to watch the condition of the oil weekly at first to see if it is getting very dirty quickly, because you'll need to change it pretty often at first if you are starting with a very dirty motor. You'll see more power to the ground with the Motorcraft 5w-20 blended over the heavy oils. It was also good for 2 more MPG in my car as well!
 

I've had people tell me that before, and I've also had people tell me the other way around as well. In my tractor, I got more ponies to the ground with the Champions over the Autolites in the testing I did. Your results may vary, as they say. :wink:
