Excellent pic. Nice buck. I would have taken it. I usually go to NE, up near the SD line. Couldn't make it this year. Always thought about SD, but that draw deal and not knowing where to go took me to NE. Stayed in Butte NE last year and a couple of guys hunting SD brought in huge WT bucks.

Had a nice whitetail buck in my back yard Saturday afternoon, but don't believe he was quite that big. We are on the edge of town with fields behind us and we have a pond in our back yard. Deer come in everyday to drink, but the only time we see bucks is during the rut or sometimes over the winter.
Congrats on bagging that nice buck.

(quoted from post at 10:14:11 11/14/11) Nice buck---congrats!!!

Where are the trees?? :>)

Tim
At last count, I think there were 4 trees in SD and they didn't make the picture.

Nice buck. I'm in Michigan and our firearm deer season begins this Wednesday. I'm planning on heading up Thursday to Hillman, MI (near Alpena). I hunt wooded private property. I had no luck so far during bow season.

Nice mulie! I really miss mule deer and elk hunting from when we lived in Colorado. In Iowa now and although the whitetails definately taste better, its just not the same...think that has alot to do with the terrain though (I really miss the mountains!). Here is the buck I took last month during the IA early muzzleloader season.

Nice buck. Where do you hunt in West River? I lived in Wall in the late 60's and the hunting was quite good there.

There are trees in SD but you have to hunt for them except in the Black Hill and the river breaks.

Saw "Deer Season opened," thought Deere, expected to see pictures of green tractors with bullet holes...

We ate lunch in Wall on the way down to Fall River County. We hunt a 5000 acre ranch south of Hot Springs. Probably the last ponderosa pine hills before running out to the reservation.

(quoted from post at 18:55:23 11/14/11) Here is the tree.
 The reason I said 4 trees was that I worked on a ranch west of Spearfish during the summer of '64 while I was stationed at an AF radar squadron at Sundance Wy. I think the only trees on the entire ranch were around the buildings, no doubt planted there. A few miles west of there, there were lots of trees as the radar site was in a part of the Black Hills Natl. Forrest. Don't know the situation with the ranch now as I-90 runs right through it.

Jim, Jim, Jim! It starts Tuesday, not Wednesday! I hope you don't miss a day, especially the opener.

I'll be out there in about 4 hours.
