General Questions

I just recently puchased my super c. It had been converted to 12v. It has an old marine battery in it now and I want to replace it. Can anyone advise what amp battery I should use to replace it. The battery only used for starter but as soon as I can will get the lights working. Also there is a slight oil leak at the rt rear wheel. The only oil fill I can find in rear is the PTO. Could this be coming from there or am I missing something. A little confused since the rear axles have grease fittings.Appreciate any info. Thanks

First off, welcome to the site. Ok, on these tractors, buy the battery to fit the battery box. I wouldn't get too worried. Now, don't buy a lawn tractor battery, but you also don't need a 850 CCA either.

On the leak, it sounds like the axle seal is worn. The grease fitting is for the outer bearing. The inner bearing is lubed by the tranny. There is a large fitting on top of the operator's platform for adding gear lube. 80W90, brand of your choice.

1. How do you know the trans. is low and needs additional fluid? Check the level plug - on right side of casing, behind right axle and about level with axle. If fluid does not come out there, I would suggest you remove drain plug on bottom of casing VERY SLOWLY to where fluid starts coming out but plug threads are still engaged. If water (not oil) comes out, you'd best drain the whole case, flush with diesel, refill with recommended gearoil. Before you refill, drain PTO house by plus on lower right side. Fill PTO case by plug on top, fill trans. case by plug on top of case-lid, just to the left of the shift lever.
