Super A PTO

Am rebuilding a 1951 A with some parts from a 1952 A.

51 has a single pto shaft
52 has two pto shafts - one at 90 degrees

May I simply remove the pto units and install the dual shaft pto unit onto the 51? Simple or difficult for one who is tinkering and learning?

What are the uses/requirements for the straight pto and the 90 degree pto?

Does the 90 degree pto interefere with any other use/implement someone may have with the tractor?

The 90 degree shaft is supposed to have a belt pulley mounted on it and that is the only use for it as far as I know.

It should interchange the belt pulley did need to be removed for some implements. When you remove them keep them seperate.

The "dual PTO" should fit right onto the one that you took the single PTO off of. The right angle PTO is for a belt pulley, usually a flat belt, but some applications use a v belt pulley there, such as for a belly mower. If you take the belt pulley off the shaft, it won't interfere with any implements that I know of. Also, if the belt pulley is not on the right angle unit, then there is supposed to be a sleeve and heavy washer held by a bolt in the end of the splined shaft. The sleeve is there to hold a bushing in place where the seal is located. The seal runs on the bushing and if you don't have the retainer seal there, you may lose the bushing and then you will have a big oil leak.
