Just took delivery of a 574 gasser with a few issues. There is a bolt in the block right above the solenoid that is dripping oil. Not sure if something was supposed to be in the block at that location and this is a plug or if the bolt is factory there. Either way, it's dripping and just wondering if there is something missing or just needs a gasket or o-ring. Tried looking at IH Parts, but there was no category for engine in the parts look-up.
Another issue is that when I put the position control lever all the way to the NOTCH, or lower fast position, three point drops really slow or not at all. When I pull it just above the notch, it lowers fine.m I have the draft control in lock out position.
These are the beginning issues. Bought her knowing she needed a little work.

Hi Kevin, never worked on a gasser, only the Diesel D-239 version. I believe the gas engine was a C-200 and it should be stamped on right side of engine by the oil filler/dipstick. Because these engines were used in many different applications, there was a separate parts book for each engine, so go to caseih.com search for parts and enter C-200 instead of 574.

Kevin, the 3 point is working as it should - The slot is for "drop responce" the farther forward, the slower it's supposed to lower. Try to find an owners book if you can, a reprint or one from ebay? I'm not sure about the bolt in the block, I'll look at mine tomorrow if I can remember -

Thanks, that worked, but still not sure what that part is. If I am looking at picture correctly, might be the pressure relief plug, but not sure. Thanks again.

I'll check the manual. I put the bale stabber on and picked up a bale and everything worked fine. Maybe worried for nothing. I do hear a little grinding or rattling noise under the seat. Kinda in a rhythmic sound like a locust. Doesn't sound like a locust just has that rhythm.

Look closely at the bolt.Determine if the bolt uses an o-ring,a copper washer,or just needs some teflon tape.Soumds to mee that it is in an oil galley.

Kevin,
