need some info on the decal placement onthe c

when i got this one she just had the 2 C decals onthe lower front of the hood and the side hood decals.

my set appears to be 11 pieces, so that leaves 7 more decals.. I havn't looked at all of them. I assume some will be self evident.. but will accept any guidance.

Use the owners manual as a guide....or better yet get a copy of Guy Fays Letter Series Originality book for proper and complete decal placement.

have the owners manual at home, will give it a look over this weekend with my decals laid out on the table and see what I can identify.

thanks for the reply

Guy's book gives the exact position, the owners manual is ok, and only the correct police will know if something is a quarter inch off.

is this book a tsc item.. or something like amazon?

1/4" off is fine.. it's not a restoration.. on a refurb.

fix the broke and leaking stuff, beat out the dents, clean and paint..

You might find it at TSC, but Amazon would be your best bet. I found mine at a book store in a shopping mall.

a buddy with the book emailed me and told me to tell him what decals I had and he'd tell me where to put them.

:)

I think he said soemthing like that. :)

The drawings/specs are available, but the folks that made their living applying the originals didn't use measuring tapes to place the decals.

Pick a spot along the centerline of your fuel tank about halfway between the fuel cap and the seam at the rear. The top of the PTO warning decal should be at about that spot or a little to the rear. The "short-turn" warning decal goes just ahead of that, with a gap of 1/4-1/2" between them. The small yellow decal about hitching only to the drawbar is centered on the back of the seat pan where it would be visible while hitching up.

What other decals are you trying to place?

will know more when I lay the decals out.. right now still in the plastic sleeve

thanks

will post back

ok, i also have a oil filter decal.. ... I assume on the oil canister

next is an air cleaner, again.. assume onthe upper body?

gear shift pattern decal

also the lamp switch decal i guess.. I have a possibility of 2.. lh d b or O D B

i'm guessing off /dim / bright

not sure what the LH one is.

I have a rear work lamp and r & l front lamps off the steering pedistal.

and I checked my switch, dim / bright works, and all 3 lamps function

thanks

Use ODB on the light switch if you have a 3-position switch (i.e. 2 clicks).
Use LHDB on the light switch if you have a 4-position switch (i.e. 3 clicks).

Sounds like you've got a three position, Off-D-B, switch. Use that decal lined up with your switch positions.

The 4-position switch was for L(ow)/H(igh) charge rates without lights and the D(im)/B(right) lights. Different animal.

Shift pattern decal should be redundant and not used as the shift pattern is cast into the tranny cover.

Oil filter, yes on the can. similar with the air filter, placed on teh outside, centered for height at or about the level of the rib from the support bracket that wraps around from the rear.

I have a couple of tractors with some of the original decals intact AND I have Guy's book.

So, here is the skinny. IHC must have gotten most of the factory decal workers drunk everyday (or they were stoned on the paint fumes). I have yet to find an original decal "perfectly" placed. Some are REALLY crooked, others are "close", but none are perfect to committee specifications.

Guy's book is a very good source for the original IHC specifications. I can say for a fact, that in real life, these puppies were all over the place.

Make it look good, get them close. You will be fine.

These were put on based on Guy Fay's book
