Cub is running

Finally have the Cub running. Idles great and runs smooth. The only issue now is when you give it fairly rapid throttle is chokes a bit and may or may not pick right up. If you pull the choke about 30% is is less of a problem but is still not right. I've checked the timing and also tried it a couple of degrees either way. No improvement.Since the problem is decreased by pulling the choke I assume carb related. The carb has a new rebuild. Any ideas??

The idle mix could be a little lean yet. Richen to best idle, and 1/4 turn more. If this helps but does not fix it, raise the float level .020" at a time twice to see if that solves the issue. If not there id probably still some residue in the high speed circuit requiring more cleaning. Jim

Are you running a mag or a dist problem can be from a bad condenser to a worn shaft in the dist. Just found a bad dist on a C engine raced and missed asd fire was intermittent. Shaft had bad bushings.

Old basic carbs will always lag quite a bit on a fast move of the throttle. They don't have an accelerator pump. So it'll never be perfect.

But if it feels like it's a problem, and as you say choking it a bit helps, then it's most likely clogged somewhere in the carb.

Rebuilding a carb doesn't clean it. And blasting it with carb cleaner when its apart is almost never enough to really clean it.

You really gotta get into the little passageways with a wire - or boil it. Or better yet, use an ultrasonic cleaner (see link).

For 80 bucks, you'll be the most popular guy on the block when everybody wants to clean their carburetors.

I found a video too - can't seem to link more than once here - I'll repost with that link

if choke helps, it's not running too rich, but as a few others said.. it's leaning or starving.

check those flaot adjustments and the mix screws.

I had to diddle with my cub when i rebuilt it's carb as well.

I would put it to work. See how it runs after rinning at least a tank of fuel through it.
Perhaps add a little ATF to the gas.

Good Afternoon,
Someone suggested that I contact you to ask a question. I have a SA and just bought a A-193 plow for it. IT does not have the depth control linkage, or connector on the bottom. The gentleman I bought the plow from suggested I find someone who might be able to measure one and I could try to fabricate one. Do you have one or an idea of where I could get measurements. The manual doesnt give them. Thanks for any help you can give. I appreciate it.

I'll try to measure my linkage in a little while if you're still looking for that info.

But basically it's from the your hydraulic's rockshaft arm down to your reversed drawbar.

All you really need is a long flat peice of stock to connect them. You could just measure the distance yourself and cut it to fit.

But I will try to measure it later and get back to you.
