Clear Coat?

Two part question:

1. I'm cleaning up the metal connections of some switches. Anything, clear, I can spray on the connections to keep them from rusting and not interfere with their electical function?

2. Is Clear Coat a good product to use over tractor paint to help protect paint? Spray it on like paint over the paint?

Thanks.

I understand this PBlaster spray protects and stops corrosion, helps conductivity. I've used it restoring my H, don't have lots of experience with it yet. Seems like good stuff. I would not use a paint or varnish-like material. It would be very hard to get off.
I would like to have other's recommendations on clear-coating a tractor. I've wondered about it too.

1. my brother-in-law is the mechanic so he just hands me stuff and says "use this". I think he handed me something called dielectric grease [i think that's right] which coats electrical connections but doesn't interfere with conductivity.

2. you can use whatever paint you want since it's your tractor. me - I'm lazy. just bought the single coat paint with hardener added but I'm not taking my tractor to shows either. that 340 isn't retiring until I do :)

Is this the same grease that you would apply to a trailer hitch plug? If so it can be bought in a very small quanity almost like a ketchup packet size. I think Wal-mart carries this item.

I purchased a large tube of dielectric grease at an auto parts store. I think it was Permatex brand.

If you use alkyd enamel and can find a clear that is compatible, clear will help prevent fading due to the UV inhibitors it contains. Acrylic enamel, and urethane already have the clear and inhibitors mixed in -- so does IH 2150. The most durable paint is the base clear system, if you have the money.
