Hey gents,
For those who may remember me, I haven't actually touched my '44 H since late '09 when I was preparing it for a parade in its work clothes. Unfoturnatly that didn't work out, and then I started in my deploying squadron and got VERY busy, and haven't really touched the tractor since. I had the tractor lifted up and on jack stands with the front wheels and bolster removed.
Well, wife told me she wanted the garage cleaned out before I left on this next deployment in a few weeks, so I asked a friend to store it for me. It happens to be the place I'm going to tear it down to paint it, hopefully next summer. My neighbor knows a flat-bed tow truck guy who will pull it up, transport it the 20 miles, then lower it down, all for $50.
So, this past week I had my new front tires put on the old wheels just so I could move it, and today I rebuilt the front end and steering and set her down on her own front wheels. It looks like a tractor again!
I'm off to lows to find a half-moon key which is lost in the mess of my garage somewhere.
Wish me luck in that next summer I'm actually able to finish this never ending restoration. What's it been... 4 years so far? Yikes!!
