I just purchased a 560 Farmall with a grabby clutch. After spliting it I found a new clutch plate and fresh mill marks on flywheel. Checked new plate for defects and found none and the flywheel is ground flat. What am i missing?? Did they not mill down the edge after milling the face? What are the specs on this?

Thanks, Al

did you know that the clutch was redone when you bought the tractor? wish you would have asked before tearing back down. my experience has been a dry clutch like you are talkin g about sometimes need to be broke in or get a slight glaze on the discs before they work properly. a good way to start the process is at a slow idle ride the brakes and slip the clutch several times, be careful not to over heat too much at a time. unless you find a problem that is my recommendation.

Not familiar with a 560 clutch but if it has fingers that can be adjusted, check to make sure they are all equal. Put the Pressure plate contact surface on a flat surface and check the height of the fingers. They should all be at the same level. Also, check for a broken or weak spring in the pressure plate. I also agree with another poster. The pressure plate, disk ansd fly whell need to be "worn in". Need to get the machined surfaces smoothed out.

Just another thought,(but NOT very likely to be this way)Did someone instal a ceramic clutch disc during rebuild??? The have superior holding power, but DO NOT engage smoothly!(VERY "grabby!")

Also,if the disc has ANY contaminates on it(Example:maybe off of dirty hands during first installation???)It can be doing it also.
