I know I've asked this before but I forget ha. Got a local 856 in a barn lot with weeds grown up around it. They use it once a year to fix tile in the field with an excavator attachment on the back. It's a diesel with a cab and I don't know the hours. The body looks pretty rough from 150 ft (distance from the road) becasue it has dings and dents and rust due to this Indiana weather. My dad and uncle know the guy that wns it and said he would be interested in selling but I'm not sure what it's worth. He said it runs good. Ofcourse I would go look over it pretty good but what do you guys think it's worth? I was thinkin $1000 bucks without the loader. It's definetly a project but I don't mind a challenge. Thanks for any input

If it runs and does not use oil, the TA works, and it has air in the tires, you are probably at one third the asking price. The tractor (if good) is a great find at 3000. If broken, ot trashed in drive line or engine it night be at the 1000 level. In my opinion Jim

An 856 without weights weighs around 5ton.Scrap metal brings $250 a ton.Usually tractor salvage yards bid around $35/$40 per H.P.If you can buy it for less than $3000 you have done well.

$1000? If he sells it to you for that he's a fool.

More likely he'll throw you off his property.

And 856 Diesel wide ft. with and outhouse on it if it runs good and i don't care if the T/a IS OUT AS TO ME THAT IS A EASY FIX . It is worth 4500 and i would give that in a heart beat. Now just where is this tractor setting.

Best tractor IH ever built, enough guts to get the job done, but not enough to tear it all to he.........
