Recently purchased a 1951 H with char-lynn power steering. Power steering reservoir was too big to fit under the hood and a hole was cut into the current hood. Is it possible to modify the reservoir to fit under a stock hood?

Pumps with remote reservoirs are to be had (honda Civic is one) the cutting is not a good deal, and is probably because someone used a Chevy pump with a tall reservoir. Jim

the h i have has a char-lynn on it, and it is cut the same way. i think that was the instructions in the install manual for the installation on the h.

The early 50's Char Lyns used a Saginaw pump and resevoir. Based on 56-59 Cad, Buick, Olds pumps. They fit under the M hoods but not under the H. Oh also saw one on a 57 Stude Hawk, same Sag pump. So I think you couls ebay one on a "packard" search.
I have a zip lock bag full of the rings and seals for a Torque Gen if someone needs them.

Exactly! That is how it was done.
