Farmall M Manifold

I was looking at the CaseIH Online Parts Catalog and noticed there
are two different gas manifolds for the M. 8035DDY for serial
#41345 and below and 8035DDX for those above that. Well, as
luck would have it, my tractor is below 41345. The only one that is
sold new these days is 8035DDX, will that work on my lower
numbered tractor? Any idea what the differences were between the
two manifolds?

It will fit. The differences were (probably) due to changes in fuel vaporization (heat into manifold). Jim

Studs to mount the manifolds were 3/8 diameter below the serial # and 7/16 for engines serial # 41345 and higher. 8035DD was the same manifold and actually came on the very late M tractors and then the SM. Manifold part 8305 DDY included the manifold studs nuts and washers and DDX didn't. Both were just a later type manifold IH used to replace previous ones with. Would suprise me if a manifold sold by a dealer now is exactly like the originals. Chances are your head could be replaced with a later one with 7/16 manifold bolt holes, no matter the head any of the M manifolds can be mounted.
